Modoxy Media
Mohammed Ali “Mo” Naqvi is a director, producer, and writer, and the founder of Modoxy Media — a production company built on the belief that the most compelling stories come from the edges of the map.
A member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Television Academy, Mo’s latest feature, Hanging by a Wire, is a Universal Studios production that opened the World Documentary Competition at the Sundance Film Festival and was selected for Tribeca. He produced two seasons of Netflix’s global top ten docuseries Turning Point and received the inaugural Emmy Television Academy Honor for directing and producing Showtime’s Shame. His films — including Among the Believers, Insha’Allah Democracy, The Accused: Damned or Devoted?, and Pakistan’s Hidden Shame — have been released by Netflix, HBO, Paramount, BBC, STARZ, PBS, and Channel 4, screened at Toronto, Berlin, Busan, and Tribeca, and showcased at the Museum of Modern Art. His fiction credits include Big River (Berlin International Film Festival) and I Will Avenge You Iago, starring Giancarlo Esposito and Larry Pine.
Beyond his own films, Mo works as a cultural strategist and industry builder for South Asian and global majority storytellers. He serves as Chairman of Pakistan’s Academy Awards Selection Committee, where he drafted and implemented the committee’s first formal constitution. As former Artistic Director of the Tasveer Film Market, he built industry programming connecting South Asian diaspora filmmakers with Amazon, Netflix, and leading studios — and launched the first AI film summit for South Asian filmmakers, held at the Sphere in partnership with Runway. He co-founded Crescent Collective, a Cannes Film Festival and Marché initiative building visibility for filmmakers from South Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa.
Through Modoxy Media, Mo develops and produces work that is cinematic, globally resonant, and built for impact.
